things to do when bored

Thursday, September 28th, 2006

here’s a list i started making on my forum, of things to do when you’re bored. here goes, and if any numbers are missing that means someone else added one or two things.

1. sort through all of your clothes, and get rid of any you don’t wear or will never wear.
2. clean your bedroom. some people already have clean bedrooms, but still. change all the sheets, pillowcases, and wash those blankets. it doesn’t hurt to do this.
3. clean up your computer, like gte rid of old stuff and sort things.
4. if you haven’t joined the Recycling bandwagon, nows’ a good time, especially if you have alot of garbage that could be recycled.

5. clean out your refigerator. sometimes, we forget things are in there, so it’s best to take everything out, and while doing that, throw out anything that has gone bad or you don’t need.
6. clean out your freezer.
7. water your plants around the house
8. take a nice relaxing bath, and if you have kids, make sure they’re taking a nap or they’re already asleep at night.
9. sort through all your makeup. i think you’re supposed to throw away anything older than 6 months.
10. clean under your bed. unless it’s already clean. if so, then this one doesn’t work for you.
11. redecorate your bedroom or any other room of your choice. take all the furniture out, if you’re painting the walls.
12. find a site online that shows you how to make graphics, like sparkly names.
13. wash all the windows in your house/apartment.
14. make youself a horoscope. just do simple things, like, for example, “i will get what i want on my birthday” for the month your birthday is, or say to your future self how to get through something you don’t even realize will happen. it can be as weird as you like.

16. have a dream diary. have an empty notebook next to your bed, so when you wake up you can write it down, especially if you forget dreams fast, like me.
17. write an article about something. it can be anything, like what you think about cat food. or something.
18. go and buy a book on HTML or JavaScript. make sure it’s for learning how, too. it’s a very useful skill to know!
19. find a new forum to go on, esp. one that’s very active, since there’s alot to post on and you won’t be bored anymore.
20. sort through all your CD’s. get rid of any you don’t want.
21. make a pile of CD’s you want to listen to, then listen to all of them. time consuming, so it’s likely you’ll be out of your whole boredom thing.

24. make a forum and post every topic you can think of – by yourself!

26. if you live near a body of water(lake, river, ocean…..) go to the shore and just watch the water and relax for a bit

28. visit your nearest relative
29. browse the internet for some good smilies (not ones that come up in pop-ups though)

30. make things with numbers and stuff on your computer…like a picture, or like this:
*9*(a 9-shaped cheerleader with pom-poms).
31. write a song about something in your house. your computer, for example. or walking.

32. go through a dictionary looking for cool words to use for people. ones they probably have no idea what it means, that’ll get them. (puerile and inane are some of my favorites now)
33. make a diary and only write about good things in your day, so then it is focusing on the good things, not the bad.
34. make little Artist Trading cards (look it up on wikipedia).
35. make a face mask, or buy one, and use it. lol.
36. give yourself a manicure and pedicure. i find epsom(sp?) salts(a few spoonfuls), some powdered milk (a little less than the ’salts), and a container of water(big enough for feet and hands), mixed together, is good. do your hand first, by just letting them sit in the water for about 10 minutes or less. you can push back cuticles better this way. dry them off, and do the same thing with your feet. presto! you can paint you nails or not. but this does prep them pretty good and i think they’re soft afterward. lol, i haven’t done this in a while, i need to soon.
37. try to take a nap, since when you’re bored you’re usually tired. if you need it to be dark, put up some dark stuff on the windows, if you don’t already have curtains, and get in your most comfortable jammies, and some warm blankets, and try and relax. might as well put those kids to bed, if you have them, for a nap.
38. take your measurements for everything. sometimes, it’s just good to know what the measurements are. also comes in handy if you like to make your own clothes. actually, it’s essential.
39. go to a fabric store. if you took those measurements, then this is the time to go and make something. unless, of course, you don’t have a sewing machine in the house.
40. look at houses in your area that are for sale, even if you don’t need one. it’s actually pretty fun! though i’m not sure who you ask to look in the houses….

argh. haven’t updated in a bit. i’ve usually been using my DA blog, just cause nobody reads it. they also gave me a one week subcription  for free, so i gotta use my account. i guess.

i’ve been a slacker with the school. i just don’t get around to it, and i spend some time doing things on the computer, like writing and stuff. the french book i was learning out of i had to give back to the library, just when i was getting the hang of it. but i’ll probably just get it out again soon.

just a second ago i was looking at one of my begonia plants and i’m kind of wondering why they haven’t died yet because i think they’re perennials and i got them sometime last year, at least. and it’s like they’re unkillable. wait, mom says they’re annuals. anyway, i kept wondering why they wouldn’t die, even if you went months without watering them at all. they always have pink flowers on them too. i need to get bigger pots since they’re getting a little big for them. mom had put them outside last year in the summer, and they were pretty near their end but they survived somehow. it’s pretty crazy.

oooh, and i made some apple leather and some apple sauce. yum.
