latin - beautiful

24 04 2007

i noticed, after looking through my old latin textbook, there is no word (at least in this book) for beautiful, pretty, handsome, gorgeous, or any other word describing how nice-looking someone is in latin. so if anyone knows a word for it, let me know.

i was writing an entry earlier, and the power went out. i haven't been able to get to it since before lunch. anyway, i'm trying to remember what i was writng about. oh, yeah.....

we returned the car we borrowed to Aunt Boo's house and got our newly fixed car back. it was really nice out, and i took some pictures of the sunset. okay, i took about 20. i just really like sunsets. so, the power went out today, and, as i said, i was in the middle  of writing an entry. but i hadn't done too much. so it's not a big loss.

today, it's not as nice out. it's pretty windy, actually. we might be going somewhere, but we're still deciding. we might be going shopping. i need some (okay, maybe more than just some) clothes. i'd prefer to get jeans first, because i usually only wear jeans and not much else. but i need some tank tops too. today just isn't a good day for shopping. it's too windy and everyone would be going. and i don't like spending other peoples' money. it makes me feel bad.

emma has been playing on the sega literally all day, the same levels, over and over. i'm tempted to unplug it because she wouldn't know how to set it up again. mean, i know, but she's been playing it for sooooo looooong.......

i think i'm going to be fending for myself again for supper. not to complain, or anything....

an interesting fact: in latin, it doesn't matter what order you put the words in, when saying or writing a sentence; it will still mean the same thing. i think that's pretty cool, because i always wondered in other languages what order things had to go in because i couldn't really tell, growing up. anyway, i could post alot more facts about latin, but i think i'm going to do some more reading, since i finally figured out something very obvious that i didn't get. tata for now

why everyone elses’ blogs seem more interesting than mine, i’m not sure….

or pherhaps it's just me.

we're not going anywhere today, which is fine by me. we might get the car back tonight, but otherwise...

so, i looked at the weather and it's 24 degrees over here. it might get up to 27. *whistles* yeah, too bad i can't actually whistle. so i took emma outside, and i let her help me with the dishes (i get lunch duty over here, and back home i do all of it). we made lemonade with real lemons. it's probably the best lemonade i've ever had.

earlier, i listened to a few cds that had songs on them that remind me of summer. i love summer. it's definitely my favorite time of year. spring is a close second, then fall, then winter. winter can be okay at times but i like warm weather way better. there's a nice breeze today and it's slightly warm. it's very nice. i'm hoping it doesn't snow again until next winter. i feel a little bad about saying that because i aslo hate the whole, you know, global warming thing. but i can't wait for summer. the best thing is, we'll be in the new house by then. and it's gorgeous here in the summer, so i can't wait for that. it's going to be awesome.

what i also can't wait for is, well, emma to be big enough to go without her carseat. i know i didn't have one when i was 7 or so. yeah, emma's only 6, but i think i remember alot of things from then. the reason is because there's not alot of room in the backseat of the car - and let's just say, i'm not a touchy-feely kind of person. i actually try to avoid contact unless it's emma or i want to give someone a hug.

i hope we get to drive (very slowly) by our new, awesome house. i bet it looks better when all the snow is gone. i want to look and wander around the yard, too. just to get the lay of the land.

i'll probably post here alot this week. i didn't bring any books (other than notebooks for ideas for stories or other things, and a latin textbook from 1926), or the laptop (what i write stories on). i just brought the latin stuff, notebooks, and some half-finished thing i'm trying to knit. a funny story, actually, because i started out with maybe 8 stitches and somehow i added about 12 stitches. i really don't know how it happened. but now that i have looser stitches (they used to be way too tight) and i don't add more stitches in between or anything. i'll be sure to take a picture sometime.

too much adventure for one week.

here's the short version. we were driving to the apartment, going down the fredricton way. something was wrong with the back wheel and, apparently, if we hadn't stopped, something would've snapped off. so, some guy named Randy drove us girls to the apartment and dad got the car towed.

today is nice and warm out. i'll have to take emma outside. she's playing on the Sega right now and i want her to, you know, get dressed first before we go outside. she's still wearing her clothes from yesterday.

sarah's looking at the yellow pages from the phonebook. i guess she's bored?

anyhoo, i'll try and post later about something or nothing. toodles.

Storytime!

21 04 2007

as promised, i'm going to put the story i wrote for emma on here.

Princess Emma and the stolen Oreos

by meaghan the totally awesome sister

this is the story of a girl named  Princess Emma. she lived in a big castle in a big town. she had two sisters, Princess Sarah and Princess Meaghan, and a brother, Prince Addison, who went to college. also, she had Queen mom and King dad.

Emma was on her way to the royal kitchen for some Oreos. Emma loved Oreos. but when she reached the kitchen, she found the cooks running around looking very crazy indeed.

one of the cooks saw Emma and ran over to talk to her.

"your royal highness, we've run out of Oreos! we don't get more until Tuesday! what will the kingdom do?" he said.

Emma was shocked. "oh no! tell me more!"

the cook looked very upset. "it looks like...well..they've been stolen!"

Emma gasped. "by who?"

"the dragon from out in the woods!" he cried.

(que 'Dun Dun Duuunnn' music)

Emma started to cry. what would they do? the dragon from the woods was the meanest dragon around. and he took all of her Oreos! then Emma was mad. really mad.

"order the handsomest boy you can find to get my Oreos back!" she ordered.

later, they found a boy named Prince Ben. (he was the handsomest guy, like, ever!) he agreed to get the Oreos back.

when Emma saw Ben. she was surprised. "he's sooooooo handsome," she said dreamily to nobody in particular. Ben was very nervous. but he set off to get the Oreosback. Emma was the prettiest girl he had ever seen and he didn't want to let her down.

when he reached the cave, he was scared. he thought of Emma and went in the cave. soon, he saw that the dragon was asleep. trying not to wake the mean dragon, Ben took back all of the stolen Oreos back to the castle.

"oh, thank you!" Emma cried, giving Ben a hug.

later, Emma and Ben got married, had five beautiful babies, and  lived happily ever after.

the end!

as i said before, this isn't usually the type of story i write. but anyway, mom and emma like it.

yesterday, it was i think between 17 and 19 degrees outside all day. it's only around 11 today, but i hope it'll warm up. it's good to see such nice weather. we'll be going to the apartment again tomorrow. i hope the weather is good on the drive up.
